Rooftop Films at Old American Can Factory

Summer is winding down, but there are still a number of outdoor community events to look forward to.

ROOFTOP FILMS: Friday, August 20. Rooftop Films is a great NYC institution that produces a series of outdoor film festivals around the city. One of their venues is the Old American Can Factory in Gowanus (left), and they have been screening new, innovative films there all summer long. They are closing out the summer this Friday, August 20, with a series of short films (all about endings, appropriately enough). For more information, or to buy tickets, visit http://www.rooftopfilms.com/2010/schedule/34-rooftop-shots. It really is a great experience!

COBBLE HILL PARK CONCERT SERIES: Thursday, August 19 and Thursday, August 26. Every year the Cobble Hill Association works with local institutions to put on "Music in the Park," a series of free outdoor classical music concerts in Cobble Hill Park (Clinton Street and Congress Street). There are two concerts remaining this year, on August 19, featuring the Gene Drop Ensemble and on August 26, featuring the Cady Finlayson Ensemble. All concerts start at 7pm

DANCING UNDER THE STARS: Tuesday, August 17th and Tuesday, August 24th. The 5th Ave BID would like to invite you to dance under the stars with them, on Tuesday nights in Washington Park (5th Ave and 3rd Street).  Live music and programs for kids starting at 6pm and music, dancing for adults beginning at 7pm.
