The Brooklyn PTA 5K is on today, rain or ... drizzle!

We’re sorry about the weather this morning, but we are still running the Brooklyn PTA 5K Fun Run for Public Schools this morning at 10 AM. I’ll be there and I hope you will too!

(There are events in Prospect Park every Saturday & Sunday throughout the spring, so it is very difficult to secure a “rain date.” And you wind up losing tons of people anyway. So the PTA 5K is a “rain or shine” event. We’ve been lucky to have good weather most years, and today, we’ll be running in the rain.)

The race kicks off at 10 AM sharp in Prospect Park at Bartel-Pritchard Square (15th Street entrance).

Many of you already have your numbers, so you can show up just a few minutes before then.

If you have not registered, but would still like to, or if you’ve registered but not yet picked up your numbers, registration/pickup will begin at 8:45 AM. Registration is $20/individual, and $5 for each additional family member).

Sadly, we did have to cancel the kids’ rock bands we had lined up this year … but we’ll look for another time soon for them to perform.

Whether you run or not, your contribution helps support Brooklyn’s public schools – we’ve pleased to report that we’ve already raised a lot through pre-race registration. This is one of the only events we know where our school raise money together. And we’ve got a formula that prioritizes both participation and Title I (lower-income) schools.

So it’s already a great event, rain or drizzle. Join us if you can – it’ll be fun to be one of the hardy troopers! And thanks in any case for your support of our public schools.
