Meet & greet with your new State Senator!

Meet & greet with your new State Senator!

A few months ago, State Senator Daniel Squadron announced he was resigning from his post in the New York State Senate. I had the pleasure of worked with with Senator Squadron on many issues in our districts’ overlapping neighborhood of Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill and Columbia Waterfront (at times we were even competitors, like during our epic burger cook-off showdown.)

Losing Senator Squadron was a blow -- he’s a smart progressive and a great public servant. But I believe that the district will be in excellent hands with the newly elected State Senator, Brian Kavanagh. Brian has has served in the New York State Assembly for the past 11 years. He has fought to strengthen rent laws and preserve affordable housing, to increase access to quality schools, safeguard our environment, and worked to create a fairer and more accessible political process.

I’m incredibly pleased to welcome him to the 26th Senate District -- where I have no doubt he’ll fight for our neighborhoods and work with his colleagues to bring forth the progressive, reform minded Senate that New Yorkers deserve.

Your first chance to meet the new State Senator will be on November 21st where we’ll be hosting a Meet & Greet with Senator-elect Kavanagh. Ask him your questions and learn more about how he plans represent our communities. And since Brian is new to representing Brooklyn, he is counting on us to keep him up to speed on the important issues in our neighborhoods!

Meet and Greet: State Senator Brian Kavanagh
Tuesday, November 21st from 6:30 - 8 PM
Carroll Gardens Library, Auditorium (Lower Level), 396 Clinton Street
RSVP here
Co-sponsored by the Carroll Gardens Association and the Cobble Hill Association

I have long admired Brian's record of fighting for progressive values in the Assembly and I know that he will make Brooklyn proud as our next State Senator. After all, his initials are BK!
