Super Tuesday, PBNYC style: Take action for democracy tonight!
Super Tuesday, PBNYC style: Take action for democracy tonight!
The Super Tuesday results are coming in … from Texas, Minnesota, Colorado, Massachusetts, Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, and even American Samoa.
But you can take “Super Tuesday” action for democracy, right now, right here in Brooklyn!
That’s because we’re quickly coming up on our 5th Year of Participatory Budgeting (PBNYC), the process by which New Yorkers vote to fund specific community projects (submitted by their neighbors) designed to improve their neighborhood public spaces. There’s nothing quite like this truly participatory democracy, in its purest and most community-focused form to make us forget about all the primary season negativity, and get excited to vote again.
This year we’re determined to tell even more people in our neighborhood what a powerful process PBNYC is and we need your help staffing a vote site and helping to get the word out. If you’ve voted before (or even if you haven’t), we’d love for you to take the next step and help us get even more participation out of PBNYC.
Hundreds of your neighbors have spent the last several months diligently researching projects and finalizing our ballot, but the process only works if you participate! This year’s you’ll again get the chance to vote on $1.5 million worth of projects – and the vote is open to ANYONE AGE 14 and UP! You’ve made some great decisions so far – and I’m excited to see what you’ll vote for this year.
Decide where you’ll vote this year – and commit to taking your part in PBNYC today.
PBNYC 2016 Voting Information:
First, if the letters PBNYC don’t mean much to you, check out this short video to see how PBNYC gives New Yorkers real power by voting to fund projects that improve communities. You can also ask a few of your several thousand neighbors who’ve come out to vote for four years in a row why they think PBNYC is great!

You can make sure you live in my district (or another one that participates in PBNYC) by typing in your address here.
We’ll be sending out the final ballot soon, in the meantime, make sure you pledge to vote, sign up to volunteer and tell your family, friends, and neighbors.
Thanks for your commitment to PBNYC, the only election this year that won’t drive you a little crazy.

P.S – Some of our youngest PBNYC voters have already kicked-off the PBNYC vote this year with a bang. Check out the PBNYC Youth Blog – with lots of good information for teens (or anyone else) who wants to learn more about PBNYC and how to get involved. Big thanks to my office intern, Ilana Cohen, and her fellow PBNYC Teen All-Stars for putting this together.
